ALPFA Scholarship Program

The Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA) offers scholarships to students pursuing studies in accounting, finance, IT or a related field.

Application Deadline: April 15th, 2009*
* To accommodate certain schools’ spring schedules, we have agreed to extend the deadline to April 15th, 2009.

Total Scholarship Funds: $150,000

Amount of Each Scholarship: Average award: $1,250 – $1,500
Limited scholarship awards for top candidates up to $10,000*
* Please note that the top 50 students selected will be invited to attend ALPFA’s National Convention in Pheonix, Arizona (August 10-14, 2009) with all expenses paid for.

Eligibility Criteria:

* Must be Hispanic or of Hispanic descent
* Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident residing in the United States or Puerto Rico
* Must be studying at an accredited university in the U.S. or Puerto Rico for the upcoming academic year
* Must be (or plan to be) enrolled full-time for the upcoming academic year 2009-2010
* Must have earned and maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average of no less than 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
* Student must demonstrate financial need
* Must be pursuing a undergraduate or master’s degree in business, finance or accounting.

* Official transcript – Postmarked by April 15th
* Proof of family income – Postmarked by April 15th
* Proof of citizenship status – Postmarked by April 15th
* Essay – Submitted online by April 15th
* Letter of Recommendation – Submitted online by April 15th
* Resume – Submitted online by April 15th
* Financial Aid verification (if chosen as semi finalist only) – Submitted online by June 30th
