			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>INTRODUCTION</p>
<p>The Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) is a collaboration between the Agency for Science, Technology &#038; Research (A*STAR), the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the National University of Singapore (NUS). The PhD training will be carried out at labs at A*STAR Research Institutes (RIs), NTU or NUS. Upon successful completion, students will be conferred a PhD degree by either NTU or NUS.</p>
<p>ELIGIBILITY</p>
<p>    *Open to all international students<br />
    *Graduate with a passion for research and excellent academic results<br />
    *Good skills in written and spoken English<br />
    *Good reports from academic referees</p>
<p>COVERAGE AND AWARD TERMS</p>
<p>Successful candidates will be given support for up to 4 years of academic pursuit, leading to a PhD degree. Successful candidates will receive:</p>
<p>    *Full tuition fees<br />
    *Monthly stipend of $2000 and will be increased to $2500 upon confirmation<br />
    *One-time $1000 settling-in allowance<br />
    *One-time airfare grant of $1500</p>
<p>AREAS OF INTEREST</p>
<p>Research areas under the PhD Programme fall broadly under two categories:<br />
#Biomedical Sciences; and<br />
#Physical Science and Engineering</p>

School of Computer Engineering,<br />
Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.</p>
<p>We invite applications for 2 fully funded PhD scholarships to the School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore to undertake research work in the area of speech and language processing. We hope the student can enroll for the program during the 2009 January or 2009 August intake.<br />
Areas of particular interest are<br />
Multi-lingual speech recognition<br />
Robust speech recognition<br />
Speaker recognition<br />
Large-vocabulary automatic speech recognition<br />
Spoken document retrieval<br />
Computational phonetics and phonology</p>
<p>Applicants should have a good honors or Masters Degree in EEE, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics. Experience in pattern recognition, natural language processing, audio and speech signal processing or speech/speaker recognition is a plus.<br />
